Lonnie Lee Elliott, Jr. affectionately known as "Mr. Junior" was born on May 14, 1949 in Cumberland County, North Carolina to the late Lonnie Lee Elliott, Sr. and Roxie McNeil Elliott. Lonnie attended Greensboro City Schools and later retired from Tarheel Paving Company in 1992. He was a fun loving person with a caring heart. He loved to travel and work with his hands in the yard and garden. He so very much loved his "Ms. Sue". He will be missed by all he came in contact with. Lonnie departed this life on May 15, 2014 at his home after a brief illness with his wife and children at his side. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Mary Elliott; and brothers: James Elliott and Alonzo Elliott. He leaves to cherish his memory wife of 48 years, Mattie Townsend Elliott; sons: Lorenzo Elliott and Desmond Townsend; daughter: Nicole Townsend; brother: Robert Elliott; sister: Ruth Elliott; aunt: Sarah King; five (5) step daughters; two (2) step sons; four (4) grandchildren; seventeen (17) step grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
