Ty'Quasa Renee' Whitaker was born in Johnston County, North Carolina on January 9, 2000. She was the oldest daughter of Terri Whitaker and Charles Dockery. Ty'Quasa attended Hairston Middle School. She was born with a diagnosis of Sickle Cell Anemia. At the age of 6, she was also diagnosed with Leukemia. She bravely beat her cancer with God's favor. While in remission, she unfortunately developed heart failure. June 24, 2014 at the tender age of 14, God smiled upon his angel and called her home. Ty'Quasa was always full of life with a bubbly personality and a million dollar smile. Throughout her journey, while receiving treatment at Duke Medical University, she touched many lives. She loved to dance, sing, and dress up. She was definitely a DIVA!! In addition to her parents: Terri and Charles, she will forever be loved and missed by her older brothers: Ty'mont and Ty'rewon; three younger sisters: Fatima, Shy'kiera, and Shatara; step-sister: Laquitta Dockery. She also leaves to cherish her memory; maternal great grandmother: Etta Mae Whitaker whom she affectionately called "Mama"; maternal grandmother Catherine Dockery of Durham, NC; two special aunts: Tara and Temple Whitaker of Greensboro, NC; two aunts: Sharina and Alina Davis; two uncles: Chris and Franklin Davis; many great-aunts and great-uncles; many cousins who were like brothers and sisters; special cousin: ShaMica Brown of Greensboro, NC; very special friends: Sharlotte West and Shlatta Walker from Duke Medical Center. Ty'Quasa fought an eight year battle and did so with courage and strength. We will miss her dearly but we know she has earned her wings and taken her rightful place in heaven. We love you Baby Girl, for your peace is now eternal.
