Obituary

Linda Richardson Hayes, age 63, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:05 am at Wesley Long Hospital following a short courageous battle with cancer. Linda Elizabeth Richardson was the first daughter born to the late Ray Richardson and Ada Staples Richardson on October 11, 1951 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Linda graduated from James B. Dudley High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, she began her long career of 45 years of dedication with Cone Mills/International Textile Group (ITG) where she was a Lab Technician. Linda worked every day with ITG until her health declined. She was truly a hard and dedicated worker. Linda Richardson was joined in Holy Matrimony to Golas Lee Hayes, Jr. on April 22, 1983. Linda was a lifelong member of Persimmon Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church. There she was a member of the first Gospel choir of the church, she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society and was a dedicated usher on the Usher Board Committee. After the passing of her mother, Ada Richardson, who was always the entrusted planner and cook for the family gatherings, Linda took her place in preparing the good meals and good times had by the family. She truly enjoyed seeing that everyone was happily satisfied. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by a beautiful infant daughter, Latonya Richardson and Mother-in-Law, Estella Hayes. Those left to cherish Linda's memory are her husband of 32 years, Golas "Chuck" Hayes of the home; two sons, Steven Hayes of Pensacola, FL, Harrison Hayes II of Greensboro; one brother, Donnie Richardson; two sisters, Wanda Poole(Jerome), Deirdre Richardson, and one devoted niece, Jada Richardson all of Greensboro; one special grandson, who was like her own, Brandon Haith of Pensacola, FL; three sister-in-laws, Deborah H. Luter(Paul) of Brentwood, TN, Sallie Hayes-Williams, and Linda Hayes of Greensboro; one uncle, Clyde Staples of Greensboro; eight grandchildren, Darius Moody(US Navy-Spain), Steven Johnson(Pensacola, Fl), Deshon Johnson(US Army-Ft .Jackson, SC), Kiana Hayes, Joshua Bowden, Camren Hayes, Tashauna and Tashaun Simpson all of Greensboro, and another niece, Ryann King of Brentwood, TN; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
