Lennie was the daughter of the late Llewellyn Searcy and Jennie Dilworth Searcy. With the passing of her mother, a three day old Lennie was thankfully mothered by her Aunt Eliza Searcy Russom Dick and step mothers Irene and Annie Mae.
Lennie moved to Greensboro in the early 50's and was employed by Moses Cone Hospital in the Dietary Department from which she later retired.
Lennie was an active member of the St. James AME Church of Oak Ridge where she was a member of the choir and served on the Trustee Board. She was a Sunday school member, a member of the Miller-Taylor WMS, and received the Living Legacy Award from the Western North Carolina Community Development Corporation.
Lennie loved singing with the choir. She and (twin) Jennie's voices blended beautifully together. Lennie possessed a warm caring heart. She would lend a listening ear for all in need. She was a quiet person and enjoyed others' conversations and company. Lennie enjoyed game shows, especially the Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. She enjoyed coloring and word puzzles. Her favorite snack was unsalted potato chips. Lennie greeted everyone with a warm smile and "how you doing".
Lennie was preceded in death by her parents: Llewellyn Searcy and Jennie Dilworth Searcy; sisters: Mozelle (Polly) Jeffries, Lois Griffin and twin Jennie Lowe. She leaves to cherish her memory Aunt Bernice Dilworth Hooker and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
