Mr. Larry Patterson, son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Charles and Amy Patterson was born January 28, 1951. God called him home to rest on June 30, 2020. Larry received his education in Greensboro, NC and graduated from Dudley Senior High School. Larry was a member of the United House of Prayer for All People and was lovingly known as Bro. Larry. During his time of service at the House of Prayer, Bro. Larry was a diligent and faithful worker in many areas including the banking committee, Heavenly Sounds, Faith club, Tambourine Band and cafeteria manager. Bro. Larry also helped to coordinate the early phases of the outside water hose baptism at the United House of Prayer in Greensboro, NC. Bro. Larry had a long standing career with the City of Greensboro. In his early years, Bro. Larry worked for the transportation dept. Bro. Larry joined the Greensboro Fire Dept. in 1969 and enjoyed a passionate career until his retirement in 2003. Upon his retirement he took on a second career as a dedicated Grandfather and loyal worker in his church. Those who knew Bro. Larry well remember his overwhelming pride and joy for his grandchildren, his unconditional love for his two children and his willingness to always help others. To know Bro. Larry was to love him for his unapologetic truth on issues he was passionate about. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles and Amy Patterson and two brothers, Deacon Charles Patterson and Norman Patterson. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mrs. Charlene Patterson; one son, Larry (Sherry) Patterson Jr.; one daughter Cathy Patterson; six grandchildren: Charnice Turnbull, Chanelle Turnbull, Larry Patterson III, Captain Nicole Jacks (Nikki), Barbara (Kelley) Lawrence, Monique (Ryan) Puckering. And four great-grandchildren. One brother Ronnie Patterson; one sister Jonelle Sturghill (Larry) of Washington, DC; sister-in-law St. Brenda Patterson of Derita, NC; sister-in-laws Sallie Smith, Marlyn Patrick, Wanda Patterson and Veronica Hall of Greensboro, NC; brother-in-laws Donnell (Faye) Stubbs and Charles (Vickie) Stubbs of Greensboro, NC; one adopted sister, St. Brenda McGee (Elder McGee); and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
