Obituary

Larry Bernard Davis was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on April 5, 1955 to Mary Lee Stubbs Davis and Frank Raiford Davis, Sr. The last-born of seven children to this union; Larry was always affectionately called the 'baby' of the family... and he reveled in holding that position. Larry received his primary and secondary education in the Greensboro/Guilford County School system and went on to pursue his college degree at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. Graduating from Fisk in 1977 and armed with a degree in Chemistry; Larry set out to launch his professional career and was able to hone his craft with employment in the corporate arenas of first Sherman Williams Paints-Dye Division and later Ciba Geigy Chemicals. He thoroughly enjoyed his career as a chemist which spanned twenty-plus years. Larry had a strong spiritual foundation that was rooted in the Baptist faith traditions. He was baptized at New Light Baptist Church at an early age. However, after attending Our Lady of Grace regularly for many years and desiring to fully serve in the church, he converted to Catholicism and became baptized at Our Lady of Grace on April 5, 2015. Larry courageously battled end-stage renal failure and persevered dialysis for thirteen years. He transitioned this life on Sunday, June 17, 2018. Preceded in death by his parents Mary Lee and Frank R. Davis; two siblings Helen Davis Matkins and Frank Davis, Jr. Larry leaves to cherish his memories: Dedicated life partner of 23 years Ernest Russell; brother James A. Jim Davis (Peggy), brother Christopher Davis (Kathy), sister Christina Davis McCoy and brother William Norris Davis (Joannie). Nieces: Cheryl Adair (Curtis), Vonda Brister (Shone), Stephanie Wheeler (Adriel), Lisa Richardson, and Angela Robinson. Nephews: Derrick Leon Davis, William Norris Davis, Jr and Glenn Franklin Davis; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Larry was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed.

A service honoring his life will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Our Lady of Grace Church; 2203 W. Market St. Greensboro, NC. The service will begin at 11 am.
