Kevin Buxton left his earthly life and transitioned to be with our Father in heaven on June 4, 2020, in Greensboro, NC. Kevin was born in Fayetteville, NC on March 31, 1977, to James E. Buxton Jr. (Jimmy) and Bernita M. Buxton. He was raised in Laurinburg, NC attended Franklin Chapel A.M.E Zion church where he was baptized. He received his education from Scotland County Schools, graduating from Scotland High School – class of '95. In high school, Kevin had a great love of playing football and running track. He was recognized by Who's Who in Sports All-Stars and was selected for All-County Band for his skills playing the trombone. After graduating from high school, Kevin went to Western Carolina University on a football scholarship for a year; he then attended and graduated from Fayetteville State University, playing football while in attendance. At FSU, he received an award for "Outstanding Volunteer" from Governor Jim Hunt. After Kevin's schooling and ventures of living in other places, he made the decision to move to Greensboro, NC to be with his best friend "baby brotha" Marcus Buxton. Kevin had a great love for his family and friends and always wanted everyone to be together, convincing the majority of his family to move to the Triad to be closer. Kevin was extremely fun to be around and always had a way of making everyone feel comfortable by telling jokes and bringing laughter to all. His intellect allowed him to approach any situation from a place of reasoning, and often resulting in thought-provoking debates. His love for his sons, Alijuan and Kyler, was profound as he always uplifted them to be great and supported them to make the best decisions no matter what challenges came their way. He was a proud father and loved his sons unconditionally. Kevin worked at Newell Brands as a Supervisor of Consumer Services and participated in the Black Triad Golfers group. Kevin was a member of Omega Psi Phi, Incorporated. He had a great love for his fraternity and participated in the Guilford County National Pan-Hellenic Council and served as Social Committee Chairman. Kevin's dedication to his family, friends, fraternity, and community was apparent daily. He loved to serve the community by serving meals to the homeless, making sure children had school supplies, volunteering to go on school field trips, or just offering words of encouragement. Kevin loved helping, being around, and supporting people. Filling in, in any way he could by being a father figure to many, especially his nieces Nikayla and Naliah Buxton, as well as a 2nd father to his nephew Caden Buxton, coordinating events, and being a service to all. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James McCoy and Mary Frances McCoy, paternal grandparents James E. Buxton, Sr. and Jessie M. Buxton, uncles Bishop James E. McCoy, Don Gilmore, Arthur L. Jefferson, aunt Jessie Jerusha Jefferson. Kevin leaves to cherish his memory his parents James E. Buxton Jr. (Jimmy) of Fayetteville, NC and Bernita M. Buxton of Kernersville, NC, sons Alijuan O'Neill Moore of Goldsboro, NC and Kyler Markell Buxton of Durham, NC, affectionately called "my lady" Adrienne Joyner of the home, siblings, Nikki Buxton of Kernersville, NC, Marcus Buxton (Yvonne) of Greensboro, NC, James E. Buxton III (Monica) of Gastonia, NC, Christopher Buxton of Winston Salem, NC, Andre Gunther of Fayetteville, NC, Danielle Buxton of Richmond, VA, Sonne Barnes of Rocky Mount, NC, aunts Carolyn Gilmore of Greensboro, NC and Shirley McCoy of Charlotte, NC, and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. The Vice President of Global Distribution of Newell Brands, and the team he managed shared that Kevin was a "champion for his people." Other comments shared about our beloved

Kevin was a principled man who believed in family, togetherness, love, and service. We are so blessed to have had him in our lives. Although we are sad today, we rejoice and thank God for the impact he has had; we are grateful for his brotherly love until he met God our Father Almighty. He lives on through us all!!!! We would like to thank everyone for your prayers and your many acts of kindness from the bottom of our hearts.
