Kenneth (Kenny) Lee Um'rani, the first son of Gertrude Parker, was born April 7, 1960, in Greensboro, NC. As a child, Kenneth liked to repair old abandoned TVs and put together small transmitters from parts he collected like old radios. He attended Sister Clara Muhammad, a Muslim school in Winston Salem, NC. At the age of 17, he was sought after by 12 colleges nationwide. Kenny decided to attend North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro NC on a complete scholarship to study Engineering Physics. There, he worked with Dr. Gilchrist, a professor of Physics, assisting and doing experiments. After that point in his life, his mental and physical life was slowly and gradually fading away. He finally departed this earthly life on January 9, 2021. Leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Gertrude Rashada Um'rani, two brothers; Phillip Nadir Um'rani and Christopher Van King, one sister in law, Joyce Um'rani, four Nieces; Jazmin Nicole Um'rani, Krystina Lynn King, Kristin Nicole King, and Eboni Nicole King, and two nephews; Christopher Van King II and Elijah Na'im Um'rani.
A public viewing will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021, from 3 PM-5 PM in the Cassie Coote-Brown Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Westminster Gardens Cemetery in Greensboro, North Carolina.
