Kenneth Wayne McLean, 78 years old departed this earthly home on December 15, 2023, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
Kenneth was born March 22, 1945 in Guilford County and was the sixth child of the late Henry and Elizabeth Milton McLean. Kenneth was raised in the White Oak Grove community and was a graduate of Brown Summit High School. After graduating from high school, he entered into the United States Army. In his spare time, Kenneth loved playing baseball and was given the nickname "Slugger." He became a self-appointed manager for the girls community softball team. Kenneth was an avid hunter and he loved his hunting dogs like no other. He would hunt in the surrounding areas of North Carolina and Virginia with his hunting buddies from sun up to sun down. Kenneth also enjoyed playing spades with his sisters and other family members. Kenneth was a member of the White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he joined at an early age. He was an active member and served on the usher board, a trustee, and served also as a Sunday school teacher. Prior to his illness, Kenneth would attend Poplar Grove A.M.E. Church and teach Sunday school. He was employed at Lorillard Tobacco Company for 30 years. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Charles, Alton and Jerry McLean. He leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 45 years, Mattie Louise McLean, one daughter, Lisa J. Carter-Hart(Frankie) of Greensboro, NC, one son, Ivan LaMar McLean(Chantrea) of Kernersville, NC; five grandchildren - Jaylon, Franklin, Emalyn, Ariyah and Phoenix; two sisters - Annette Neal and Glenice Troxler of Greensboro, NC; four sister-in-laws, five brother-in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews.
