Hairston, Officiating~Obituary~Juanita Gail Rogers known to many as â??Nitaâ?? was born February 5th 1940 the elder sister of two children born to Angelo Henry, a successful business man and Ruby Whatley a nurse. They were of the Episcopal faith and advent, and attended their church of the Caribbean decent. Juanita graduated in 1958 from Wingate High school in Brooklyn, New York. She then began working and studying at Megar Evers College in Brooklyn, starting a student organization body in 1975. Leaving Megar Evers during the tenure of Dr. Betty Shabazz, (the wife of well known activist Malcolm X) Nita received a degree in Social Psychology at the College of Staten Island. After becoming the first African American to manage S.I.M.H. a mental health facility, she retired in 2002. Nita as she was affectionately called by some, continued to volunteer during retirement, helping her first born son facilitate his business venture and youth enrichment program at Brighton Heights reform church, and eventually got married. Nita migrated from Staten, Island New York to Greensboro, North Carolina, on the advice of her first born son, who had became familiar with Greensboro from a friend who attended A&T University. Ready for a change helping to make Judyâ??s Real Estate Company successful and her daughters daycare business profitable and keeping her sons accounts correct, she agreed after more than a year in retirement, to take her sons suggestion and moved to Greensboro in 2003.Once in Greensboro, Nita began looking for a home church, she found Evangel Fellowship lead by Pastor Otis Lockett, located on Cone Boulevard in Greensboro, after dealing with the huge membership present at Evangel. She sought a more personal church, eventually finding Calvary Christian Center in 2004. She was moved by the energetic teachings of Pastor Vince Hairston, and decided to make Calvary her home. Nita started a ministry for seniors in January of 2005 and was affectionately known as the mothers within Calvary, until illness in May of 2011, and eventually passing away on March 20, 2012. Juanita is survived by her children and grandchildren , Eldest son Derek Rogers, his wife Jackline and their children Rudy & Lauren, her Daughter, Roneisa Rogers, husband Charles and their children, Angelica & Danny ,her sister Ann Brown and her children Arnise, Angie, Artie and grandchildren, Ariel, Jeremiah, Richie, Amanda.
