Joyce C. Harris peacefully transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 27,2020 after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Greensboro, Joyce was the daughter of Clyde J. and Roberta W. Harris. She was the fifth of eight children. She attended Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Catholic School, James B. Dudley High School and Bennett College. Her love of fashion led her to Brown Hills Ladies Apparel where she was a customer service representative for 18 years. She had an eye for fashion and loved to make women look their best. In 1975, she became the Director of Tots Haven Nursery and Day Care. Her love of children and their education was evident by the bonds she formed with each child and their families. Some of these relationships lasted throughout her life. After retiring from Tots Haven, she cared for several elderly couples. She enjoyed providing them with companionship. An avid traveler, she traveled all over the world with her special friends. She loved reminiscing about places she had visited. She became homebound during her later years. She filled her days with phone calls and visits from classmates, good friends and family. Family was important to her. She treated each niece and nephew like sons and daughters. Her parting message was to always love and take care of one another. The family would like to express their gratitude to Joe and Connie Ferguson and Dominque Milton for the love and kindness they showed aunt Joyce throughout the years. The care and attention you each provided was truly appreciated. Joyce is survived by her brother Dr. John C. Harris, brother in laws Jerry Watkins and Marvin Starks. Also left to cherish her memory are her nieces, nephews, cousins and godson. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters – Mae Norris Starks, Elizabeth Watkins, Lenora Toney, Gwendolyn White, Dorothy Williams and Barbara Harris.
