Obituary

John Lee Wike was born February 18, 1941 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Charles Franklin Wike and Lucille Houston Wike. He depart-ed this life on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Beacon Place, Greensboro, NC.

John graduated from James Benson Dudley High School in 1960 and at-tended North Carolina A & T State University and majored in Music. John entered into holy matrimony with Angela Goode on July 20, 2002.

John joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member until his health began to fail. He was a member of the W. D. Johnson Choir and sang with the Spiritual Jubilees Quartet for over thirty years (30). His baritone voice will be greatly missed.

John coached little league football for Greensboro Parks and Recreation, Warnersville Recreation Center and also served as an umpire for baseball.

John worked at Tidewater Supply for approximately 10 years and retired from Dow Corning Chemicals after twenty plus years. He worked part-time with Guilford County Schools in the After Care Enrichment Service (ACES.) at Hunter Elementary School and then transferred to Bluford Elementary School where he retired. For many years, he worked for the Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.

Treasured memories will remain in the hearts of those who loved him: wife, Angela Goode Wike; daughter, Della Tawanda Payton (Perry) of Dallas, Texas; sister, Charlene Harrison (Charles) of Sugarland, Texas, and Linda Allison (Roland) of China Grove, North Carolina; brother, Syl-vester Wike of Greensboro, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Ciara and Areille Anderson of Dallas, Texas; great-grandson, Daniyus Whitfield of Dallas, Texas; Six Sister-in-laws¸ Raymiene Carter, Crystal Brown, Mar-ion Goode, Linda Goode, Cindy Goode, Theresa Young and Edith Lennon all of Greensboro, North Carolina and one brother-in –law, Vincent Goode of Greensboro, North Carolina and three very special nephews, Cal-vin Goode, Branden Knox, and Gianni Faust of Greensboro, NC; one spe-cial friend, Roosevelt (Skip) Oglesby and a host of family and friends
