Mr. John Authur Brunson passed away on Tuesday, May 11,2021. John was born October 18, 1938, in Lane South Carolina to the late Dial & Anna Lee Brunson. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother and three sisters. John spent his earlier years in Brooklyn, NY. In the mid 70's he worked as a door-to-door salesman for then, Fuller and Dudley Products, where he met his current wife Gaythorn. He served as a Deacon and member of the Gospel Choir at Sait John's Baptist church under Reverend Reed. John relocated with Dudley Products to Greensboro, NC in 1986. He began driving up North weekly delivering product, before taking a job working in the Dudley factory making the products. After many years of dating February 14, 1998, John married Gaythorn. John enjoyed watching, western's, wheel-of-fortune, jeopardy, the Carolina Panthers and he looked forward to his favorite meal Salmon and rice on Friday's and ice cream any day of the week. In 1990, John joined the Masonic and Khalif Temple #144 of Greensboro, NC. He was a hard-working proud man who will be missed by his wife Gaythorn Brunson of Greensboro, daughters Antonya Lewis and Sylvia Hammock of Greensboro, Salvania Pendergrass (Keith) of Brooklyn NY, Deborah of Brooklyn NY and sons Anthony Lewis of Greensboro, Anthony Brunson of Brooklyn NY, Thurman Brunson of Brooklyn, NY. Grandchildren: Keyshawn Pendergrass, Kyra Pendergrass, Keyon Pendergrass, of Brooklyn NY, Angelo Harris of Harrisburg, VA, Rodrick Moorehead, Anthony Lewis, Alex Lewis, Gaberiel Shay, Codi Williams-Allen (Brent), Whitney Williams, Jacenta Williams, Anastasia Sylvia Lewis of Greensboro, NC and Angelo Harris and numerous great-grands.
A private funeral service honoring his life will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. The visitation will begin at 12:00pm with service following. Burial Lakeview Memorial Park.
The family will gather for memories, laughter, food and fellowship at Khalif Event Center 2000 E. Wendover Ave. from 3pm to 5pm.
