Joe Lesley Patrick was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina on February 22, 1932. He transitioned from this earth to his heavenly home on April 25, 2016 after a prolonged illness. He was the son of late Mildred Owens Patrick and the late Dolphus Patrick. He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Landis Allen and Elsie Owens Allen, his daughter Jasmine Renee Patrick, and his brother Landis Allen, Jr. Joe attended the Guilford County Public Schools and was in business with his father in landscaping, construction, and fuel delivery throughout Greensboro. He worked for Lambeth Construction Company, Ruby Collins and Triangle Grading and Paving, supervising construction projects and heavy equipment maintenance in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Joe was an avid fan of NASCAR and professional drag racing. During the first third of his life, Joe built and raced drag racing cars, and helped his friend repair Nitro cars. After the birth of his twins, Joe gave up drag racing but continued to attend and enjoy NASCAR and other car racing events for the rest of his life. Joe married Odessa Robinson on January 24, 1954. The couple recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Joe was a member of the Center Christian Church in Greensboro, NC for over 50 years. He loved supporting his church, and served as Church Treasurer, Lead Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife Odessa Patrick; his children Alfreda Powell (Jeremiah), Krystal Patrick and Joseph Patrick (Andrea); his sister Clara B. Henderson; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and host of loving nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. A service honoring the life of Mr. Patrick will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Perry J. Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 909 East Market Street, Greensboro, North Carolina 27420. The visitation will begin at 11:30 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. The interment will take place at Carolina Biblical Gardens.
