Collins July 12, 1939 in Seaboard, North Carolina. There he attended public schools. After four (4) years in the Air Force, he relocated to Greensboro starting an incredible forty-eight (48) year life journey with his beloved wife Doris "Faye" Collins. Jimmie received his Bachelor of Science Degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Industrial Technology and loved supporting the Aggies football program. Jimmie worked for the Greensboro Police Department but retired from the United Postal Service. He continued his favorite past time of spending countless hours watching all types of sports on television, going on summer vacations at the beach with his family and talking to friends. But above all he loved the Lord. Jimmie was a much loved and devoted member of Mount Zion Baptist Church from itsâ?? inception where he used his Christian values to promote love, joy and mentorship. He sang in all the choirs and was a parking attendant and bus driver for many years. During that time, he bragged that he knew â??everybodyâ?? in the church by name. Jimmie is survived by his wife: Doris Collins; children: Robin Collins and Glenn Collins, Jimmy Walden, Darryl Booker (Angela) and Princess Phillips (Raymond); ten (10) grandchildren and two (2) great grandchildren, four (4) sisters: Thelma Fewell, Irene Collins, Hattie Fewell (Bobby), and Nannie Gwynn (Curtis); uncle, Walter Deloatch, and aunt, Pauline Adams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jimmie will truly be missed by them all.
