Obituary

God sees when the footsteps all falter…...When the pathway has grown too steep...Then he touches the weary eyelids…..and gives his dear ones sleep. In His infinite wisdom, Our Heavenly Father removed from our midst, Brother Jessie Louis Milner, on Monday, November 16, 2015. He was born on January 25, 1928 to the late Mr. Smith Milner and Mrs. Mary Alice Milner of Halifax, Va.. Brother Milner grew up on the family farm and received his education in the public school system. He served in the United States Army from 1947-1950, at which time he received an Honorable discharge. Shortly after leaving the Army he moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, where he met the love of his life, Mary Lou Brooks. They were married August 23, 1957. Their union was blessed with two sons, Michael and Paul. Brother Milner was among the founding members of New Jerusalem Cathedral. He loved his church and served faithfully as a member of the Trustees Board and Usher Board Ministries until his health began to fail. He retired from Lorillard after approximately 20 years of employment. He loved games and sports. He was a masterful checker player and very seldom lost a game of Connect Four and was an avid bowler.
