Services Friday, December 13, 2013 3:00 p.m. Shiloh Baptist Church 1210 S. Eugene Street, Greensboro, N.C. Reverend William Steven Allen, Sr. James Raymond Baker son of the late Jim Baker and Josephine Priest Baker was born November 18, 1935 in Roberson County, North Carolina. He departed this life Monday, December 10, 2013.

He was united in holy matrimony with Dorothy McArthur April 12, 1953 in Dillon, South Carolina. He joined Beluah Spot Methodist Church in Rowland, North Carolina and served faithfully as an usher. He was a loving father and husband.

James accepted a job with the City of Greensboro in 1966 and moved his family to Greensboro. He loved driving big trucks and cars. He also loved to fish.

He retired from Synder General Tire Company.

James was preceded in death by two sisters: Maggie Davis and Annie Lee Jenkins; a son: Howard Baker; and a daughter: Darlene Brooks.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 63 years, Dorothy M. Baker; two sons: James, Jr. and John Baker; one daughter: Selma Peterson all of Greensboro; one sister: Ruth Cotton, of Virginia; one daughter-in-law: Deborah Baker, of New York City; one son-in-law: Larry Brooks; five grandchildren: Antoine Brooks (Tonya), Stacy Boyd, Seth Peterson, Dequan Harris (Angela), James Baker. II (Melissa); six great grandchildren; special friends: Helen/Willie Glen Currie; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends.
