Isabella Smith was born August 3, 1914 in Cherokee County, South Carolina to the late John Smith and Ella Smith. She departed her earthly journey on August 9, 2015 in Greensboro, North Carolina Isabella was educated in the Cherokee County Schools, South Carolina. After moving to Pennsylvania with her family, she worked as a live-in domestic where she was blessed to serve one family for thirty-six (36) years. She was a loving caregiver who enjoyed volunteering. Isabella worked with many agencies over the years, such as Streamside in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and Senior Resources of Guilford located in Greensboro, North Carolina. After moving to Greensboro, Isabella joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church where in earlier years she served on the Culinary Arts Committee and was a member of the Missionary Group #1. She was a dedicated and faithful Church member. On her 100th birthday, Isabella was honored with a letter from President Barak Obama. Isabella was preceded in death by her parents; four (4) brothers: Bishop Smith, Nathaniel Smith, Noble Smith and Hubert Smith; five (5) sisters: Clara Smith, Edith Smith, Ovetia Smith, Nancy Mae McWane and Ruth Robertson. Survivors are her brother: Deacon Edward Smith (Margaret) of Greensboro, North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
