Obituary

Ida Bernice Caldwell Floyd was born March 15, 1928 in Ramseur, North Carolina. Tuesday afternoon, November 13, 2018 she transitioned from this earthly home to her heavenly home. She was the daughter of the late William Leonard Caldwell and Inez Smith Brevard. She attended school in Guilford County and graduated from James B. Dudley High School in 1945. During her early adult life, she resided in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She later returned to Greensboro, North Carolina where she met and married John Henry Floyd. To this loving union two children were born: George Henry Caldwell Floyd and Phyllis Ann Floyd Williams. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Thomas E. Williams Jr. (Nilesha), LeHia Monika (Sunshine) Williams and an adopted granddaughter, Markeyta Lawrence Moore . She was an active member of Saint James Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, North Carolina. She attended regularly until her failing health. She had a Daycare in her home for many decades where she kept children. She nurtured and cared for several generations of children for over thirty years; and today, this legacy lives on. She is survived by her two siblings: Brother, William Leonard Caldwell, Jr. (Jenny) of Hawaii and Sister, Frances Caldwell Harris of New Jersey as well as her 95-year-old cousin, Ertha Lee Legrand; special niece/daughter, Debra Reid Mack of South Carolina and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and Boston. She departed this life at Camden Rehabilitation Center where she was welled care for by staff and Hospice. A service honoring her life will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at St. James Presbyterian Church; 820 Ross Ave. Greensboro, NC. The visitation will begin at 11:30 am and the service will follow at 12 pm. The interment will take place following the service at Guilford Memorial Park; 6000 W Gate City Blvd. Greensboro, NC.
