Mrs. Hattie (Sue) Cunningham was born on August 26, 1947 to Mr. Robert S. & Mrs. Hattie Eva Thompson in Alamance County, North Carolina. Sue accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and lived a life committed to Him. After graduating from Central High School in Hillsborough, North Carolina Sue attended Durham Business College. She was employed by Kayser-Roth Corporation as a payroll clerk for many years and also worked for UPS. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she faithfully served in the Hospitality Ministry. She also worked with the Girl Scouts in past years. Sue was married to Mr. Farris L. Cunningham, Jr. and together they reared two sons. The absolute joys of her life were her son and three grandchildren. She enjoyed every moment spent with her family whether it was vacationing or simply time at home. To know Sue was to love her and laugh with her. Her pleasant demeanor was like no other. Sue was full of wisdom and was blessed with the gift of words. She was truly a rare jewel; a gift from God. Sue leaves to cherish her fond memories, her husband Farris, two sons, Darrell (Vanessa) of York, SC and Eddie Cunningham of Greensboro, NC; three grandchildren, Chaslyn, Jordan and Joshua Stanfield; six brothers, Robert Thompson, Jr., Jerry Thompson, Phillip Thompson, and Aaron Thompson, all of Mebane, NC; Steve Thompson (Peggy) of Hillsborough, NC; Michael Thompson (Patty) of Burlington, NC; five sisters, Barbara Trollinger (Kermit), Sylvia Thompson, and Vanessa Thompson, all of Mebane NC; Yvonne Thompson of Greensboro, NC and Pamela Bell (William) of Columbia, SC; six aunts, Dorothy Thompson, Helen Graves, Colleen Woods, Willameana Woods, Kathy Yarvor and Katrina Crist; two uncles, James Johnson and Jesse Woods and a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Mount Zion Baptist Church; 1301 Alamance Church Road, Greensboro, NC. The visitation will begin at 11: 30 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. The interment will take place following the service at Lakeview Memorial Park; 3600 N Ohenry Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27405.
