Harold Haynie, Sr., 87 died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Beacon Place of Greensboro, North Carolina. Harold is the son of the late Lester and Cora Haynie. He was born on October 14, 1926 and the last sibling of thirteen children. Harold was one of the oldest members and graduates of St. Mary's Catholic Church and School. He was a graduate of James B. Dudley High School Class of 1944 and attended North Carolina A&T State University. Throughout his stellar career, Harold served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and stationed at Pearl Harbor. He is a retiree from Western Electric, The North Carolina School of the Deaf and The North Carolina Wild Life Commission. Harold was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus. Harold was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all; and on numerous occasions he delighted them with his warm conversation and laughter. Harold is survived by his loving wife, Alice R. Haynie of fifty-four years. One son, Harold Haynie, Jr. (Elaine); and four daughter, Linda H. Jones, Patricia Alexander (Clyde), Vanessa H. Neal (Norman), and Harlan H. Watlington, all of Greensboro, North Carolina, Twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Wanda Reid.
