Mr. Gilbert Wilkes entered into eternal rest on January 10, 2020 at Moses Cones Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Born in Chester County, SC, April10, 1937, he was the son of the late Annie Belle Wilkes and Gilbert Worthy,Sr. Gilbert attended the public schools in Chester County and graduated from Finley High School in Chester, SC. He moved to Greensboro, NC at an early age, where he worked at Overnight Transportation for over 35 years. Gilbert loved to Cook; he truly loved God and his Church, True Worship Baptist where he served many different capacities of service to the Ministry. Gilbert, was preceded in death by his Wife, Brenda W Wilkes, and a Sister Ruby Worthy Rice. Gilbert is survived by: One Daughter, Deborah J.King(Robert) of Mooresville, NC. Two Sons, Lamont Evans (Melissa) of Kernersville, NC, James F Ferguson of Greensboro, NC. Brothers, Jackie Worthy, Allen Worthy, Timothy Worthy, Gilbert Worthy all of Georgia. One Sister, Linda Worthy of Georgia. Grandchildren; Laklieshia Izzard, Sparkle King, Paris Archie, Brandon Izzard, TK King, Kory King, Hayley Evans, CJ Evans. Two Great Grandchildren, Kaden and Arianna. Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. A service honoring his life will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church; 1105 Willow Rd. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 11:30am with service following at 12pm. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery. 'Special thanks to the Staff of Heartland Rehabilitation Center.'
