George Arthur Jackson departed this earthly life on Tuesday, November 24, 2015. He was born on July 11, 1934 in York, South Carolina to the late Willie and Mary Jackson. George moved to Reidsville, North Carolina when he was a teenager and worked at the American Tobacco Company. While in Reidsville he met and fell in love with Lena Kaylon. They married and started a family in Greensboro. From that union, three (3) daughters were born; Mary Denise, Joyce Henrietta and Betty Jean. He later married a second wife named Jean, and adopted her daughter, Candice. George worked various jobs and his favorite was baking honey buns and making banana pudding. He later found his passion as a truck driver, and eventually became a master truck driver for West Brothers Trucking Company until his retirement. George is the last Jackson from his generation. He is survived by his two (2) daughters: Joyce and Betty; four (4) grandchildren; twenty (20) great-grandchildren and one (1) great-great-grandchild; a host of many other nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary. A service honoring the life of Mr. Jackson will be held on Monday November 30, 2015 at the Perry J. Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 909 East Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. The visitation will begin at 11:30am and the service will follow at 12:00pm. The interment will take place following the service, at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 North O henry Boulevard, Greensboro, North Carolina 27405.
