Gegurtha P. Holloway, also known as “Gee” was a lover of life. She was loved and adored by many and well known for her diva-like taste in fashion, shoes, and jewelry. Gee was fun, spirited, outspoken, a giver, and had no problem getting you all the way together if she felt like you needed it. She loved her family dearly and was there for them in times of need. Gee deeply loved her daughter “Cam” more than anything in this world, and you would hear her brag about her one and only quite frequently. Gee loved the Lord, enjoyed her church family, she loved singing, shopping, and traveling. Her life was well lived.

Gee was born in Greensboro, NC in 1948 to the late George Washington Pennix and the late Marrietta Trapp Pennix. She was a graduate of James B. Dudley High School, class of 1966. She spent a short time in Buffalo, NY where she gave birth to her daughter in 1968. She later moved back home to NC and began working with Drug Action Council providing resources for those who were dealing with substance abuse. Years later, Gee moved to Atlanta Georgia where she completed her certification provided by the Georgia Chapter of Healthcare Financial Management Association. She then was employed by Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where she worked as a Certified Patient Accounts Representative.

Gee also remembered her mother’s direction to walk with the Lord and keep Him first. She found a church home and attended Mt. Nebo Baptist, where her love for God grew deeper, and she was committed to attending bible study and becoming even more familiar with God’s word. During the many years at Grady, Gee worked in varies departments including OBGYN, Geriatric, and the Eye Clinic. Gee married her long-time partner Bobby Milton Holloway in 1999, and they purchased a home in the suburbs of Ellenwood Georgia. They later separated due to irreconcilable differences in 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 2019. Gee continued her employment at Grady Memorial Hospital until she and many others were offered early retirement package, and she decided once again to move back home for good to be with her family.

Gee became a member of New Zion Baptist Church led by Pastor William Wright Sr. where her love for the Lord and His people was nurtured. Sometime later the Lord led her to a new church family at Love and Faith Christian Fellowship under the leadership of Pastor Michael Thomas, where she fell in love with the welcoming community at the Greensboro’s campus and she became involved in varies ministries such as the senior choir and she served as a deaconess. Some years later, Gee became ill and was unable to participate as much as she would have liked, but she was able to view online services that were provided by the church. Gee’s heart still very much supported the work that God was doing there, and she still continued her tithes and offering as long as she was able. Gee was also an active member of Silver Sneakers at the YMCA, where she met and made some very dear friends.

Left to cherish her loving memory is her daughter Camela Dungee, son-in-law William Dungee, her sister Glora Isley, her brother Donald Trapp, grandson Joshua Dungee, granddaughter Jessica Dungee, nieces Tarsha Williams, Lisa Pennix, and Sandra Hardge, nephews Darryl Trapp and Rodney Trapp, and a host of great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. Gee was preceded in death by her parents, brother Horace Pennix, sisters Ceola Lindsey and Georgia Pennix, and nephews Phillip Lindsey, Michael Lindsay, and Jay Isley.
