Mr. Freedom Jovan Graves, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024.
We come together to celebrate the life of Freedom J. Graves, born September 21, 1978, the first day of autumn, to Walter A. Aikens and Beverly H. Graves.
Freedom attended James B. Dudley High School, where he graduated, and completed two years of college at Guilford Technical Community College.
Throughout his life's journey Freedom came to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Triad Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC.
Freedom loved music, art, and writing. He had incredible artistic talent and was a profound poet. He was a beautiful person inside and out. His smile was so stunning it would light up the whole room. He was bright, had a wacky sense of humor, and was socially magnetic. He was kind, passionate, cared deeply for the people around him and made an impact on many lives.
Freedom was loved by many and will be truly missed. His departure leaves a deep wound, and is felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him deeply in his wide network of community.
Freedom leaves cherished and loving memories to his mother: Beverly H. Graves of Greensboro, NC; his father and stepmother: Walter A. Aikens and Faith Aikens of Greensboro, NC; one grandmother: Wylean M. Henderson of Yanceyville, NC; three children: Free L. Graves of McLeansville, NC - US Army, Ani J. Graves of Greensboro, NC and Ari J. Graves of Greensboro, NC; two brothers: Levon Graves Jr. of Greensboro, NC and Anthony G. Siler of Greensboro, NC; two sisters: Dawn G. Spells (Rodney) of Knightdale, NC and Alexis E. Aikens of Lewisville, NC; and a host of other relatives and treasured friends.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2024 12 pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home on 909 East Market Street, Greenboro, North Carolina. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral at 11:30 am.
