Etta Lucille Wiltshire, 95, passed on Sunday, May 28, 2017 peacefully at her home. Etta was born in Greensboro, NC. She grew up in Guilford County where she attended the public school system through high school. She earned her bachelor's degree from Bennett College where she also sang in the Bennett Choir. Etta moved to New York City shortly thereafter to teach for over 25 years. She earned her Master's Degree while in New York. Etta retired to return to Greensboro to care for her mother, Maude Edwards until her passing. Etta was also known to many as "Ms. Etta" or "Ms. Lucille" was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church. She was a member of the Stewardess Board, the Sarah Allen Missionary Unit, the Souvenir Journal Committee, and attended Bible Study. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Edwards, mother, Maude Edwards, and brother, Thomas Edwards, Jr. Etta leaves to cherish her memories her life-long friend from childhood, Mrs. Myrtle Weeks, her goddaughter and caregiver, Dr. Adrienne Sabir, loved ones, friends and care attendants whom all will continue to pray and think of her.A service will be held at Bethel AME Church; 200 N Regan St, Greensboro, NC 27401 on Monday, June 5, 2017. The visitation will begin at 12:30 pm and the service will follow at 1:00pm. The burial will take place following the service at Proximity Mills Cemetery; 2000 Phillips Ave, Greensboro, NC 27405.
