Etta Lee Wilson (nee Bradshaw) was born on September 1, 1941 in Greensboro, NC. She was the daughter of the late Wallace Edwards and late Mattie Bradshaw. She departed this earthly life on July 31, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital. After her mother's death, she lived with her Aunt Rosa for a period of time. She attended school in Greensboro, NC. In her teen years, she moved to Jersey City, NJ to live with her father and stepmother, Julia Edwards. As a young adult, she moved to Brooklyn, NY where she had her only child, Michael De Akino. Later on Etta became a grandmother to Andre De Akino. She enjoyed arts and crafts. She made and sold her own jewelry. She designed her own clothing and wore unique outfits. Also, let's not forget her signature turbans! When she moved back to Greensboro, NC, she attended GTCC of Greensboro. She graduated and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her last place of employment was Hospice of Greensboro Beacon Place and she retired from there after many years. While in Greensboro, she met and married Larry Wilson. Later on, she became a great-grandmother and her great-grandchildren became the loves of her life. In addition to her parents, Etta was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wilson, sister, Loretta Edwards, and brother, Wallace Edwards, Jr. Etta leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Michael and Tamra De Akino of Spring Lake, NC; brother, Sylvester Edwards of Irvington, NJ; sisters, Catherine and William Shepard of Kennesaw, GA; Gloria Edwards of Whiting, NJ; and Delores and Leon Crawford, Jr. of Ewing, NJ; her grandson, Andre De Akino and his wife Amy; her aunts, Kathalee Rogers and Betty Moravian; her uncle Joseph Jackson; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, her Bingo buddy, Jessica Thompson and friends.
A memorial service will be held on August 6th 2018 12 noon at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
