Ethel R. Wallace, 88, passed away on August 7, 2015 at Moses Cone Hospital. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Trinity A. M. E. Zion Church, 631 E. Florida Street. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service at 11:30 a. m. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Ethel was born in Walstonburg, NC to Willie and Carrie Patrick Rasberry. She graduated from the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical College in 1948 with a B. S. Degree in Commercial Education. She was employed at N. C. A&T as a secretary for 28 years and worked with the Department of Vocational Agriculture and later the Upward Bound Program. She was an active member of Trinity A. M. E. Zion Church until her health began to decline, serving as a stewardess, Sunday school secretary and class leader. She was a member of the November Birthday Calendar Club, Florence Henderson Usher Board and Victoria Richardson Missionary Society, where she served as president for over 35 years, and was a Life Matron with the Life Members Council. For the Greensboro District Woman's Home and Overseas Missionary Society of the West Central North Carolina Conference, she was appointed Life Member Chair for several years and was later appointed President and served in that position for 34 years. In the community, she was active in Church Women United and served on the Ecumenical Celebrations Committee. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 61 years, Latham Wallace, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Beverly Wallace, brother-in-law Clarence Wallace of Markham, Ill., several cousins, nieces, nephews, family friend and "adopted son" Quinton McCleod, extended family and friends.
