Obituary

Ethel Pearl Latiker was born on September 8, 1933 in Coffeyville, MS. She was the second child born to Lucius and Mamie Taylor. Ethel departed this life on July 31, 2019. She accepted Christ at an early age at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Council Bluffs, IA. Ethel attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs where she graduated as a member of the class of 1951. She went on to marry LeRoy Latiker on March 30, 1957, and to this union, four children were born. She was employed at Glenwood State Hospital in Glenwood, IA and from there went on to work at US Bank in Council Bluffs in the Safe Deposit Department. After retiring from US Bank, she continued to work part time at Dillard's and as a Tax Preparer for H&R Block. After leaving employment, Ethel took on a new path in life as a caregiver to her ailing father and her mother. This was attest to her character as she abandoned her life in place of caring for her parents and her youngest son. Ethel was passionate about her family and always put them first, she was willing to do anything for them. As she became a Grandmother to five Grandchildren, she shifted her focus to helping them succeed. Ethel was very involved in church throughout the years, serving on the Mission Board, as Treasurer, on the Hospitality Committee, and other various auxiliary committees. Ethel was an avid reader, was fascinated with old movies and made sure to always keep up with current events. Her other passions included travel and shopping. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her four children, Karen and husband Walter Eric Summers , LeRoy Latiker Jr. and wife Kimberly, Craig Latiker and Sheila Latiker. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Erica Summers, Wes Summers, Taylor Latiker, Christian Hill and Alea Latiker. Great grandchildren include, Jaylen, Jai'Vionne and Jeremiah Summers as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A service honoring her life will be held on Friday August 9, 2019 at H.W. Fields Cathedral; 1515 Willow Rd. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 11:30am with service following at 12pm.
