Ernest Gregory McLaughlin was born October 5, 1954 in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Alfred McLaughlin and Alice McLaughlin.

He passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Ernest was a member of Benaja Mt. Holiness Church in Reidsville, N.C. He enjoyed reading the bible and participating in church services and activities.

Ernest was the youngest of four siblings and enjoyed being spoiled by his older sisters. After graduating from James B. Dudley High School, he received a scholarship to Methodist College in Fayetteville, N.C. He completed his studies later at Greensboro College earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

Earnest was the type of individual who loved communicating with individuals of all walks of life. He worked at Chic Fila, and as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Ernest suffered a debilitating illness in 2006 and was in hospice.

He survived this and spent his remaining years at G. Anthony Rucker Rest Home.

Ernest leaves to mourn his memory: brother: Leonard McLaughlin Frederick, M.D.; sisters: Alvera Smith of Detroit, Michigan, Cassandra Jenkins (Chester) Frederick, M.D.; aunts: Christine Ireland of Greensboro, Marion Boone of Fayetteville, N.C.; nephews: Derrick Smith of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Alex Smith of West Hartford, Connecticut, Keith Jenkins of Charleston, South Carolina, Kelvin Jenkins of Las Vega, Nevada; and a host of cousins.
