Emma Gertrude Brisban, 69, gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, July 15, 2017. The daughter of the late James and Emma Brown, she was a graduate of Dudley High School class of 1968. Emma had been a faithful member of Oak Grove A.M.E. Zion Church since birth where served as a Deaconess, Missionary, and member of the Senior Choir. After 19 years of service, Emma retired from Cone Health in September 2016, During her retirement she was still active, she volunteered as a foster grandparent through the Senior Resource Center. Through them she was able to touch the lives of many, young and old with her spirit and beautiful smile. In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James Brisban; brother, Lawrence Brown, and sister, Betty Hawthorne. She leaves to cherish her memory her one and only loving daughter, Regena Brisban and two precious grandchildren, Miracle and Marquis Brisban, all of the home. One brother, William Brown (Helen); five sisters: Barbara Hooper, Lillie Connor (Ronnie), Alice Aikens, Ethel and Nancy Brown, all of Greensboro along with a host of nieces and nephews. A service honoring her life will be held at Oak Grove AME Zion Church;300 Lawrence St, Greensboro, NC 27406 on Thursday, July 20, 2017. The visitation will begin at 10:30 am and the service will follow at 11:00 am. The interment will take place following the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery; 3901 Forest Lawn Dr, Greensboro, NC 27455.
