Wilson was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on January 23, 1939 to the late Alexander and Leola Webb Gill. At an early age, Marguerite became a confirmed Episcopalian at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Greensboro, North Carolina. She departed this life at the age of 72 years, on August 27, 2011 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, North Carolina.Upon graduating from James B. Dudley High School, Greensboro, North Carolina, Marguerite, affectionately known as â??Basketâ?? to family and childhood friends, matriculated to Bennett College, Greensboro, North Carolina. Marguerite later transferred to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, North Carolina, where she obtained a Business Education Certification. In her early career, Marguerite enjoyed employment in the 1970s with Recruitment Training Program (RTP),a non-profit corporation, which assisted minorities in obtaining vocational skills for meaningful employment. Later, Marguerite became employed with the Guilford County Health Department, having recently retired in March of this year as the Purchasing Director. Marguerite is fondly remembered by family and friends for her out going personality, keen sense of humor and vivacious laughter. She enjoyed watching movies and listening to all types of music. Marguerite was always interested in new technology and enjoyed the challenges of mastering these innovative technological inventions.Mostly all who knew Marguerite, can recall enjoying sharing many of her favorite recipes and primarily, her infamous pound cakes. She was a masterful cook and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining family and friends.For several years she served on the Board of Directors of the Glendale Home Owners Association. Her family and friends will always remember her banquet feasts at her home each year in celebration of A&Tâ??s Homecoming. Her nieces thought of her as a â??Cool Aunt.â??The family who mourn her loss are her oldest surviving sister, Madelynn G. Hunter of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother, Andrew K. Gill (Joyce) of New York, New York; nieces, Pamela A. Hunter, Esq., Dr. Sharon M. Hunter and Diane Hall; nephews, Prince Hall, and Warren Hall; her extended family, the Hunters and a host of wonderful and loving friends and co-workers. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Alexander Gill, III, and sisters, Doris Gill Stewart, Anne Gill Hall and brother-in-law, Walter A. Hunter, Jr.
