Edith Wyona Spruill Troutman Davis was born on December 1, 1947 to the (late) Superintendent John and Mother Ernestine Spruill. She departed this life February 27, 2020, at Guildford Health Center, in Greensboro, NC. Edith, affectionately known as Edie, was a loving and outspoken member of the community who had a love for family and for nurturing people with her gifted culinary skills, nursing wisdom, and fierce advocacy. An active member of the Warnersville Community, she matriculated through Greensboro City Schools, attending the historic James B. Dudley High School and Guilford Technical Community College. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and later, a seamstress for Dixie Bell Industries. Edith was a vibrant help to others. She was fearless and would always defend her family, especially her parents. Her cooking skills enlarged the community around her as she often feed others and made her home a place where everyone felt loved and supported. As her health began to change, she turned her attention to being an advocate for others and making sure that her family was well. Edith fought a good fight and endured until the end and now we will cherish her legacy of love and care for others. She leaves her children, Palmer Lee Troutman Jr (Sarah), and Pamela Troutman of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren: Michael Troutman, Mark Troutman (Darlene), Alicia Wright, Treyvon Wright, Iymani Spruill and Kendall Troutman of Greensboro, NC; adopted daughter; Katina Simmons of Charlotte, NC; a host of great grandchildren, siblings: John E. Spruill II, Joyce Spruill, Greensboro, NC; Reginald Spruill (Hazel), of Burlington, NC; adopted siblings, Roy Graham and Jackie Williams; and a special cousin, Diane Brown (Joe) of Greensboro, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Superintendent John and Mother Ernestine Spruill Sr; son, Thelvis Spruill; siblings Grace Spruill, Ernest Spruill, Thelma Robinson Burwell (Larry), Anthony Spruill, Michelle Moon (Ulysses); adopted brother Will Moorhead, all of Greensboro, NC. A service honoring her life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Wells Memorial Church of God in Christ; 1001 E. Washington St. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 11:30am with service following at 12pm. The family will be accepting visitors at 512 Hargett St. Greensboro NC daily from 5pm-7pm until Wednesday.
