Dorothy Mae Martin, daughter of the late Deacon Roosevelt Martin and Catherine Siler Martin was born on June 22, 1946. She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on August 17, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Her nurturing childhood from her parents helped shape her life to love unconditionally. She was reared in Guilford County Schools and received her primary education from JC Price School in Greensboro, North Carolina. She also had a passion to become a hairdresser; so, she attended and graduated from Leon Beauty School.
Dorothy - ("Dot") to all that knew her held a variety of jobs in the fast food industry in her younger years. Dot had a passion to help rear children including her three children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, friends' children, and everyone in need. She went on to birth her own home daycare for approximately six years. Some of Dot's hobbies included hairdressing, bowling, cooking, crocheting and singing in St. Paul choir.
She is survived by her family who she loved and adored; one son Michael Martin (Myriam), Fayetteville, North Carolina, two daughters, Kathy Martin- Retland( John) Onawa, Iowa, Terwanda Perkins (Patrick) Greensboro, North Carolina, two brothers, Mr. Roosevelt Martin Jr. Greensboro, North Carolina, Mr. Clarence Martin (Sylvia) McLeansville, North Carolina, one sister Betty Donnell Greensboro, North Carolina, (10) Grandchildren Larry James Martin, James Lamar Martin, Robert Martin (Jerlin), Alecia Martin, Michael Martin II , Jonathan Martin, Quentin Martin, Tiera Martin Parker (Lennard), Angelic Tomasulo (John Paul), Patrick Perkins Jr and( 11 )Great Grandchildren, special friend Harlem Wilkson "Pops", a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and other family members and friends. Finally, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Carolyn McBride and one brother Mr. Steve Martin.
Funeral will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 at 12pm. Perry J. Brown Funeral Home Chapel.11:30am Visitation. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
