Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy S. Lightford went to eternal rest on Monday, October 17, 2011. She was born on December 10, 1928 in Albermarle, North Carolina to the late Carrena K. Smith and Raymond Smith, Sr. She was united in holy matrimony to the late N. Wilton Lightford. To this union were born two children, Brenda Lightford Leake and Tracy W. Lightford.For many years she was an active member in the church, serving as leader of Ward 3, member of the Senior Choir, and member of the Voices of the United Institutional Baptist Church. Her education consisted of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commercial Education and a Certificate in Library Science Education. Her positions included Supervisor of Accounts, Secretary of Chief Librarian, Acting Acquisitions Librarian, and Bookkeeper. She was employed for forty-one years with North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.She was preceded in death by siblings: Raymond Smith Jr., Lula M. Smith, Cordelia S. White, and Layvenis Smith.To cherish her loving memory, she leaves: daughter, Brenda Lightford Leake (Gene) of Charlotte North Carolina; son, Tracy W. Lightford of Greensboro, North Carolina; sister, Raenorris S. Mason of Hyattsville, Maryland; sister, Carrena M.
