She entered into eternity on June 15, 2011. Doris graduated from James B. Dudley High School and worked as a seamstress at Lane Laundry. Doris loved to read books and enjoyed drawing in her spare time. She said that reading allowed her to take a trip without ever leaving her front porch. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her son who came down often to visit her from New York, and who would lovingly call her "Vivian" to which she would always respond "okay Clyde". Doris was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Deal and a brother-in-law, Leberne Malone.Doris leaves to mourn: son, Allan B. Bailey of East Meadow, New York; daughter, Crystal L. Gilmore of Greensboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Krystal Black of Greensboro, North Carolina, Chelsea Bailey and Emely Bailey of East Meadow, New York; great-grand-children, Armani Rosser, Aniya Black and Suprme Robinson all of Greensboro, North Carolina; sisters, Bettie Malone, Diana Deal, and Beverly Clements all of Greensboro, North Carolina; brothers, Leroy L. Steeple and Anthony Steeple both of Greensboro, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews whom she loved; a host of other family and friends.
