Derek was born January 17, 1974 in Greensboro, NC to John F. and Josephine J. Davis. He was a 1992 graduate of Southeast Guilford High School where he was a Varsity Football Player, as well as, a member of the Falcon Marching Band. Derek graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1996, with a BA degree in Business Administration. His career in Banking rose swiftly as he advanced in positions at First Union, Wachovia, Wells Fargo and ended at First Citizens Bank as a Retail Bank Manager in the Raleigh, NC Triangle area. Derek was married to Dana B. Bonas on November 13, 2004, in the Duke Chapel, Durham, NC. From that union two beautiful children, Dylan J. Davis and Devin T. Davis were born. Derek was passionate about UNC sports, a rabid Carolina Panther Fan and a lover of the game of golf. Derek is survived by his family unit Dana B. Davis; son: Dylan Wesley Davis; daughter: Devin Taylor Davis of Mooresvile, NC; Father and Mother John F. and Josephine J. Davis of Greensboro, NC, brother: Sidney L. Jeffers and spouse Kimberly Jeffers of Independence, Missouri; sister: Ditra C. Miller of High Point, NC and a person who was as close as a sister: Elmia L. Hodge of Sarasota, Florida and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A service honoring his life will be held Friday, April 27, 2018, at St. Johns United Methodist Church; 1304 Merritt Dr. Greensboro, NC. The visitation will begin a 11:30 am and the service will follow at 12 noon. The interment will take place after the service at Raleigh's Crossroads Church Cemetery; 715 Guilford College Rd. Greensboro, NC 27419.
