In 1957 her poise, popularity, and charm in the Atlanta University Center won the attention of the fraternities at Morehouse College for Men.  Delores was selected and crowned Queen of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.  She also became the Queen of Brother Charles E. Turner, Jr. whom she married in 1959.  After marriage, Charles and Delores decided to relocate to New Haven, Connecticut.  Charles accepted a job opportunity in Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale Medical School.  Delores accepted a job opportunity in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. In 1960 the city of New Haven organized the Anti-poverty Program, Community Progress, Incorporated.  Delores accepted a job opportunity at the New Haven Redevelopment Agency in 1962, and the New Haven Housing Authority where she became the Tenant Manager at Rockview, Farnum Court, and Brookside Tenant Housing sites. She retired in 2002. Delores and Charles are the proud parents of Amy Michelle Turner Bell, Bennett College/North Carolina A&T State University, BS/MS, and Charles E.
