Obituary

On December 1, 2019 at 10:55pm, Elder Della Williams transitioned this life into her eternal rest. Elder Williams was born on January 14, 1920 to Dollie Broadnax Cole and Buck Cole. Della Williams, affectionately known as "Granny," was recognized for her unwavering faith and her ability to treat everyone with respect. She had a love for gardening and working puzzles, which she continued to do up until her death. She was also known for her love of old hymnals, often singing them whenever she felt the unction. Elder Williams received her primary education in the Rockingham County School System. She worked professionally as a domestic worker, spending most of her working years employed with the Mateers Family until her retirement. Always wanting to serve, she was an active volunteer with Urban Ministries and Claire's House in Greensboro NC. She faithfully believed regardless of your present circumstance, everyone deserved to be treated with dignity and respect. Elder Williams established her relationship with the Lord at an early age and continued to nurture it throughout her life. She served faithfully at the Mt. Pisgah Holiness Church under the late Bishop Eliza Jones in her beginning years with the Lord. Later she transitioned to the Skeens Chapel Holiness Church, serving for greater that 15 years under the leadership of Pastor Elder Bernice Shoffner. Under this fellowship she was ordained an Elder in the Lord's church. The service of the Lord and his people were always a priority in her life, and she continued to witness for him at any given opportunity. Elder Della Williams is preceded in death by both her parents: Dollie Broadnax Cole and Buck Cole; her brothers: Tom Cole, Ed Cole and Bethel Cole; her sisters: Cecilia Brown and Cornelia Carter; her husband: Lloyd E. Williams Sr.; her children: Lois E. Williams and Naomi C. Alexander; and her granddaughter: Sandra Cole. Elder Williams leaves to cherish her memories: four children: Phillip Cole (Ressie), Juanita Williams, Jacob Williams (Dawn), and Lloyd Williams Jr (Tonia); one sister: Shirley Mae Burgess; one sister-in-law: Luella Cole; one special daughter: Theresa Bethea; ten grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, lifelong friend Elder Diane Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A service honoring her life will be held on Friday December 6, 2019 at the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home; 909 E. Market St. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 11:30am with service following at 12pm. Internment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
