Obituary

Ms. Deborah LaVerne Flemming, affectionately known as Debbie, was born October 13, 1962 at L. Richardson Hospital, Greensboro, North Carolina to Geraldine Flemming Yancey and the late Charles E. Flemming. She graduated from James B. Dudley High School and attended Guilford Technical Community College. She was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service in the Human Resources/FMLA Department. Debbie joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in 1995 where she served in the Gospel Choir. She also was a member of the Triad Mass Choir for many years. In addition to singing, she also enjoyed traveling. She was a member of the Magnolia Chapter No.23, OES, PHA. Debbie leaves to cherish her memories, children: Reginald Allen, Ceira Allen, Geremy Allen and Keith McNeil Jr; mother: Geraldine Yancey; brothers: Charles Flemming (Laura), Cregg Yancey; grandchildren: Aniya, Jamir, Jaliyah, Juelz and Aiden; aunts: Hazel Nelson (John) and Melvine Jones; godmother: Janel Benton; nieces: Taylor-Rene Flemming and Season Webb; great-niece Cali Robinson; special friends: Bobette Meads, Sylvia Richardson, Sherlane Thomas, Gwendolyn Rabb and Genell Vanderhorst; and a host of other family members and friends. Debbie was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents: Cora Mae Cheeks and Melvin Lloyd Cheeks. A service honoring her life will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church; 1301 Alamance Church Road, Greensboro NC 27406 on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. The visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and the service will follow at 12:30 pm. The interment will take place following the service at Lakeview Memorial Park; 3600 N O'Henry Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27405.
