Obituary

David Foust, affectionately known to many as "40 Quarters", was born on March 19, 1927 to the late Rufus Foust and Mandy Brown Foust. From this beautiful union there were 7 boys and 2 girls, and David was the last living sibling. On February 8, 2022 after 94 long and very blessed years the Lord sent down His Angels to bring David to his eternal home for well deserved eternal rest and to reunite him with his loving parents and siblings.

After farming as a sharecropper with his family at an early age David began working in the logging field with a few of his siblings. But like many other workers during that time he changed career paths and entered into the textile industry working for White Oak Mill and Revolution Mill.

With only a lower grade school education David, with the assistance of his lifelong companion Mary Lue, was able to negotiate a contract with the U.S. Postal Service as a Postal Contractor. You may have heard such cliches as "The mail never stops" or "Nothing can stop the mail." Well, this was the attitude and determination that David used in his profession 6 days a week. He was a loyal and dedicated worker for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years and retired in 1992.

David regularly attended Locust Grove Baptist Church and was a dedicated worshiper. He really enjoyed the service and praising his Savior. You could often find him patting his knee, tapping his feet, and bobbing his head to the many spiritual hymns being sung by the church choir. David loved his Locust Grove Family!!

In addition to his parents preceding David in death are his 6 brothers: Earnest, William, Joe, Alfred, Robert, and Charlie; and 3 sisters: Minnie Russell, Mary Russell, and Laura McCain.

Those who loved David dearly and will continue to honor and celebrate his legacy are his very loyal, very caring, very loving and very supportive companion of 52+ years Mary Lue Henderson of Browns Summit; two daughters: Brenda Milton and Pam Massey both of Greensboro; two sons: Don Henderson (Tessie) of Browns Summit and Morris Henderson (Sandi) of Greensboro; one sister-in-law: Barbara Ann Foust of Reidsville; one special niece: JoAnn Brown of San Antonio (TX); 7 grandchildren: Laura, Danielle, Shardi, Priscilla, Josh, Nekira, and Bryce; 13 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A service honoring his life will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 12 pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 am.

Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

Professional services are entrusted to Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
