Mrs. Darthula McCoy Hardison was born on August 20,1940, in Chesterfield, South Carolina to the late Garfield and Ada McCoy. She was preceded in death By her husband, Jack Hardison, Sister, Delris Davis, brother, Donald McCoy and nephew, Bryan Smith. She graduated from Gary High School in Chesterfield, SC.
Upon graduation, she met and married the love of her life, Jack Hardison. Ton this union they were blessed with one daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie) If you saw Dot, you saw Jackie, because they were joined at the hip. She was Jackie's "best friend and mother." God blessed her further with a granddaughter, Mia, who was the apple of her eye. She lived and breathed her girls. Dot loved to go to the farmers market on Saturdays to get fresh vegetables. She and her friends and family also enjoyed shopping flea markets, antique stores, and yard sales. She was also a member of the Socialites club.
She attended Love and Faith Christian Fellowship where she enjoyed receiving the word.
Her life was FAMILY. Northing was more fun than sitting around her kitchen table eating and telling stories. Her granddaughter and nieces will tell you about the wisdom she imparted upon them throughout their lives. Dot helped anyone she could get it. Weekly visits to the beauty shop were welcome because she always had a story, advice, and a laugh to share.
Dot worked for family planning and retired for Guilford County Social Services after 25 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline (Reggie), granddaughter, Mia, sister; Doris Smith ( Cape Canaveral, FL), One Aunt ; Yvonne Glenn special nieces; Sonya (Tony), Tajuana (Hayward), Mother-in-law; Doreatha Hardison, Five sister-in- law; Clara, Myrtle, Eula, Trudy, Lessie, and Lora; Two brothers- in -law; Johnny and Jessie Hardison, and host of family and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 3pm-5pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. A private funeral service honoring her life will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. The visitation will begin at 12:00pm with service following. Burial Lakeview Memorial Park.
