She was the oldest of five siblings. She was preceded in death by her brother Howard Baker.She graduated from James B. Dudley High School in 1972. At an early age, Darlene joined Shiloh Baptist Church and served as a faithful member of the Deaconess Board until her death.Darlene was united in holy wedlock to Larry R. Brooks on September 7, 1974. To this union one son, Antoine Devon Brooks was born. Darleneâ??s life was dedicated to her family, her church and serving God. She enjoyed celebrating holidays and giving much love to the grandchildren, son, and husband. Darleneâ??s legacy of life will be remembered by her loving husband: Larry R. Brooks: a dear son: Antoine Brooks (Tonya); grandchildren: Courtney, Mariah, Halle, and Aaliyah Brooks; parents: James and Dorothy Baker; sister: Selma B. Peterson; brothers: James Baker Jr. and John Baker; sisters-in-law: Saundra B. Scotton, Gloria B. Hayes and Evelyn Brooks; a god-mother: Etta Gravely; as well as a host of nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; cousins; a loyal family and countless friends.
