Daniel Lawson Lee, Jr, 78, went quietly and peacefully to be with his Lord on January 14, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 19th, Saint Stephen United Church of Christ. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Daniel was the son of the late Daniel Lawson Lee, Sr. and Theresa Joyce Lee. He grew up in Greensboro, NC where he attended Greensboro public schools. He graduated from Dudley High School in the class of 1954 and served as class treasurer. After high school, Daniel attended, what was then, A&T College, majoring in Auto Mechanics. In 1959, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1961. After serving his country, he went to work for Lorillard Corp. as a Commercial Electrician, during which time he earned degrees from DeVry University and Guilford Technical Community College in Electronics. He retired in 1998 after 42 ½ years of service. Daniel loved working in his garden and enjoyed sharing his fresh vegetables with his friends and family. He was also very involved in the reunion activities of his class of 1954, where he also served as class treasurer. Many years ago, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He joined Saint Stephen United Church of Christ and was a dedicated member. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving, devoted and caring daughter, Danielle (Charlotte, NC), her Mother, Evelyn H. Burgard (Greensboro, NC), Sister, Magalene (Wiley) Bowling of Bowie, MD., Nephew, Mark (Allison) Bowling of Atlanta, Ga., Niece, Dr. Joyce Bowling-Heyward and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
