Mr. Clyde (Jack) Alexander Smith, Sr. was born in Whitsett, NC on April 23, 1929 to Mr. Charles Baxter Smith, Sr. and Mrs. Catherine L. Smith (both deceased). He transitioned into his heavenly life on June 15, 2015. He attended Guilford County Schools and was employed with Batts Transfer, South Atlantic Trucking Company and Boren Brick until he retired. Before the decline in health his hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking, playing baseball (in his younger days) and watching Westerns. Clyde was a faithful member of Clapps Chapel A.M.E. Church where he was an active member of both the Male Choir and the Senior Choir. He was a resident of Heartland Living and Rehabilitation Center for the past 3 years. Preceding him in death (other than his parents) were 5 sisters; Mildred Stewart, Jessie Conyers, Irene Smith, Nannie Sue Brown and Lucille Foust: 3 brothers; Charles B. Smith, Jr. Rev. Albert Graves, Robert Martin: 1 daughter and 2 grandchildren. Early in life he married Margaret Holt of Gibsonville, NC and to that union 6 children were born; Hattie Greene (deceased), Alma Brown, Claudine Adams (Bill), Carol Soloman, Clyde Smith, Jr. (Nita) and David Smith (Sabrina). Daughter Iris born to Arlene . Those left to cherish his memory are 5 sisters Edna Boyd, Bessie Mae Womack, Sandra Singleton, Pearlean Glover and Elaine Lynn; 2 brothers Rev. Howard Graves, and John Graves; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.
