Charles Daniel Miller, Jr. loving husband and father entered his peaceful rest on Sunday, January 13, 2019.

Charles was born on March 25, 1962 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He accepted the Lord at an early age. He became rooted and grounded in Christ's teachings while attending his paternal grandfather's Baptist church in Sulfur, Louisiana after having been confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where his maternal grandfather was a faithful member. He attended St. Peter's Church and World Outreach Center while living in Winston-Salem. Later, he joined Destiny Christian Center, where he served as a captain of the Greeters D-Team and was a member of the Men's ministry.

Charles graduated from Bennett High School in Buffalo, New York. He attended the Wilma Boyd School of Travel and Tourism in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania just after high school, and then Winston-Salem State University where he earned a Bachelors degree with honors in Chemistry. Charles worked full time at Winston-Salem Healthcare while attending WSSU as a full time student. He began working at En-Cas Analytical Laboratories in Winston-Salem in his field of study while still attending college. Charles left En-Cas and began working at ITG (formally Lorillard Tobacco Company) in the Research & Development department, where he was a research chemist and later a manager. He served there for close to twenty years.

On July 26,1986, Charles married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Lynette Nichols. They raised one precious daughter, Charlene Nicole.

Charles cared deeply for his family and was devoted to serving the church. He would often enjoy a good college football game. He had a passion for the profession of chemistry and made every effort to selflessly share that enthusiasm with his work colleagues. Charles (aka "Chuck") was a giving, loving, faithful and honorable man with a laugh that could spark great joy in others.

His mother, Shirley Marie Burd, preceded Charles in death. He is survived by his wife Arlene, and daughter Charlene; his father Charles Daniel Miller, Sr.; brothers: Terrell Miller, Shannon Burd, Jamar Miller, Chealon Miller (Taniqua) and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019; Family visitation will be at 10:30am followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am at Destiny Christian Center, 2401 Randleman Road, Greensboro, North Carolina.
