GREENSBORO - Charles Lee Butler, 54, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 in Martinsville, VA. Charles was born January 26 in Greensboro, NC to Barbara Horton Butler and the late Charles Alson Butler. Charles graduated from Page High School in 1976. He is a 1980 alumni of North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Charles was employed at Ben L. Smith High School as the Band Director for 14 years and served as mentor there for many student. He also served as Band Director for 17 years in Martinsville, VA City Schools and one year with the Martin County Schools. Charles had a special love for his family, friends, and music. He is survived by his wife, Donna Keyes Butler; two sons of the home, Charlz Michael Butler and Chase Alexander Butler; his mother, Barbara H. Butler; one sister, Gloria Graves; two brothers, Tyrone Butler and Duncan Butler (Kimberly), all of Greensboro; three aunts, Cora Waddell (Gilbert) of Greensboro, Betty Foxx (Clyde) of Siler City, Jean Horton of Winston Salem; two brothers-in-law, Shelton Keyes (Belinda) and Gerald Keyes (Cynthia); three sisters-in-law, Marilyn K. Spruill, Margie K. McNair (Stanley), and Regina Keyes, all of Jamesville, NC; adopted godson Chris Dodson of Martinsville, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. Arrangements for Charles Butler are as follows: Thursday, April 26. Special memorial service at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home 7 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Sponsored by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Friday, April 27, visitation: 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Homecoming Celebration: 1:30 p.m. at Evangel Church of God in Christ, 2207 East Cone Boulevard #A, Greensboro, NC 27405. Burial: Proximity Cemetery, Phillips Avenue, Greensboro, NC. Perry J. Brown Funeral Home is happy to assist the Butler Family. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that contributions are made to North Carolina A&T State University Marching Band Scholarship Fund in memory of Charles "Lee-Bo" Butler.
