Cassandra McLaughlin Jenkins was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday April 10, 2014. She was the loving wife of Chester Jenkins. Born August 14, 1948, in Greensboro, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Alfred McLaughlin and Alice Adams McLaughlin.

Cassandra was a dedicated member of Quinn Chapel AME Church. She served as a Pro-tem of the Steward Board, member of the Sr. Choir, Drama Ministry, Stewardess and President of the Missionary Society. Cassandra always had a smile and a hand willing to help others. She enjoyed spending time with her church family and grandchildren.

Cassandra received a degree in Business Administration at North Carolina Central University, a BA degree in Counseling at UMBC and a Masters in Counseling from Odyssey University.

In addition to her husband, Cassandra is survived by: 2 sons, Kelvin Lamont Jenkins of Las Vegas, NV, and Keith Edward Jenkins (Nia) of South Carolina; brother, Leonard McLaughlin of Frederick, MD; sister, Alvera Smith of Detroit, MI; 3 grandchildren, Kayla Jenkins-Beach, Khloe Michelle Jenkins, and Landon Keith Jenkins; aunts Christine Ireland and Marion Boone of North Carolina; and cousins Harold Ireland, William H. Ireland, Yvonne Hawkins and Karen Boone, all of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest McLaughlin.

Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro, NC, on Friday, April 18, 2014.
