Brenda Covington Lumpkins, 72 , peacefully went home to be with her Lord on December 11, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital. She was born December 6, 1946 in Statesville, North Carolina to the late Marietta Gaines and Robert Covington. Brenda graduated from Morningside High School in Statesville and furthered her education at Hampton University, subsequently graduating from NCA&T State University in 1971 with a degree in Clothing and Textiles.

She is survived by the love of her life, John T. Lumpkins; a son, John Jeffrey Lumpkins (Kim); grandchildren: Brandi Fox, Chasney Lumpkins, Jeffrey Lumpkins, Trathen Mecimore; great grandchildren: Zharia Fox, Preston Fox, Blair Lumpkins; several cousins, and many friends On Saturday, December 15, 2018, a Celebration of Life will be held at Evangel Fellowship Church, Greensboro, NC where she was a member for more than 30 years. The family will receive friends at 10:30AM; service will begin at 11 AM.
