IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Boris Gervis
Mcphaul
March 9, 1961 – June 18, 2025
Mr. Boris McPhaul, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at his residence.
Boris Gervis McPhaul was born on March 9, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Lucy Lee McPhaul. He was predeceased by his brother, Jeffery Dane McPhaul.
Boris attended public school in Brooklyn through the 11th grade, after which he moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, where he lived with his late aunt, Mae Ella Wall.
Following his schooling, Boris joined the U.S. Army and proudly served in the Gulf War. After being honorably discharged, he remained in Europe for a time before moving to Colorado and then back to New York City. There, he continued to pursue his passion as an auto mechanic, a craft he deeply enjoyed.
Boris was fondly known for his love of a good laugh, watching sports, going fishing, and being the "fish-fry master" at family reunions. He was firmly dedicated to the military as a source of purpose and community. Later in life, Boris relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he lived until his passing.
He is survived by his sister, Janice McPhaul (NY); his brother, Sherwood McPhaul (NY); his aunt, Naomi McPhaul (NY), who raised him following the passing of his mother in 1974; and his aunt, Loys McInnis (NC). He also leaves behind his nephews— Charlton, Jerry, Joshua, and Rodney Jr.; his nieces: Danelle and Gabrielle; and great-nieces, Ayana, Jerrilyn, and Amia.
Boris is also lovingly remembered by his first cousins: Ricky, Scott, Irene, Jill, Darlene, Jerry, Linda, and Douglas, along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Boris's memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
